Coffee Eggnog


                                          COFFEE EGGNOG
 
2 cups double-strength coffee
1 Tablespoon broken stick of cinnamon
6 whole cloves
6 alspice berries
2 quarts eggnog
1 Tablespoon vanilla
1 Cup heavy cream
1 quart vanilla or coffee ice cream
 
Simmer coffee and spices for 15 minutes.  Strain the mixture and chill.  (You can use spices, instead of the whole spices.  Whole spices can be put in a cheese cloth bag so they won't be difficult to strain).  Combine eggnog, vanilla, and spiced coffee in a large bowl or punch bowl.   Chill well.  Whip cream and fold in.  Pour over ice cream in a punch bowl.   Sprinkle with nutmeg.  Makes 18 servings.  You can add a coffee liquor if you prefer with the ice cream.
